GOP Speaker Pro Tem Richard Morgan trails in early returns from his Moore County primary race.
With just 4 percent of precincts reporting, challenger Joe Boylan leads Morgan 56 percent to 43 percent.
It’s far too early to call this a trend. Morgan won a 2004 primary by 254 votes.
