Wow, what does it say about the community that CMS HS kids understand the school bond vote better than their parents?

Taxpayers have been giving money to the school district for a while now, and there seem to be no signs of improvement. Schools need to start being more specific about where they are going to spend money if they are going to request such insanely large amounts from the citizens.

Yeah.

CMS will have to be innovative in using their resources. Instead of wasting money on useless features, put money towards building schools using an “off-the-shelf” design.

Pretty sharp there.

People don’t trust the school board with more money. There have been bonds passed in the last few years and the work still hasn’t been completed. Now the school board needs to show that it can get things done in a timely manner and pick items that are worthy of a tax increase.

Well, now.

A great many people strongly oppose decisions made by CMS . There are countless examples of how CMS has disrupted students and upset parents. Taxpayers fail to understand how the system cannot attract or retain qualified teachers. They want to know why brand new schools are overcrowded. CMS is just too big and should be restructured into smaller districts. Those responsible for this influx of population should help to defray the cost — the developers.

Good, but points off for the youthful assumption that “developers” are from outer space and can magically be made to pay for schools without any other impact on the larger economy — or home buyers.

Still, a pretty insightful performance from kids with no obvious axe to grind, no political baggage, and most of all, no interest in re-fighting the battles of 30, 40, and 50 years ago.
