Pittsburgh Steelers broadcast legend Myron Cope died yesterday. To those outside of the ‘Burgh, he is best known as the inventor of the Terrible Towel. To those of us who grew up in Pittsburgh, we remember listening to his shrieking exclamations – “Okle-dokle,” “Dumbkopf!”, “How do?”, and “Yoi!” – that made every Steelers game a joy.

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette said it best, “Myron Cope was the much-decorated master of the written word and the ever-celebrated sand-blaster of the spoken word, and a pre-eminent Pittsburgh symbol…”
