Democrats aren’t the only ones having to navigate fallout after the May 4 primary. Republicans in two congressional districts aren’t too happy about the results of their respective races, either.

As noted in the campaign dispatches below, Republican Party Chairman Tom Fetzer said that if the GOP?s top vote getter in the 8th Congressional District were elected to office, ?that would be a disaster.?

It?s the latest chapter in the increasingly contentious saga of GOP spats in North Carolina this spring. Next door to the 8th District, a similar Republican squabble is enfolding in the 7th Congressional District. Will Breazeale, who came in second place in the May 4 primary, continues to gripe about his loss to Illario Pantano.

Breazeale says that Pantano is unelectable, and he?s definitely ruffled some feathers. He tried to file as an independent or write-in candidate, but the State Board of Elections prohibited it.

Meanwhile, in the 8th, the Republican establishment is rallying against Tim D?Annunzio (who came in first May 4) and in favor of former sports broadcaster Harold Johnson, who came in second. The runoff will take place June 22.
