Big honking surprise. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is already running 20 percent over projected cost, meaning the city of Charlotte needs to come up with $32m. more to build the building the city thought it was getting.
But hey, since the 277 land sale is spinning off more money than expected by the city, we all know what comes next, right?
World class all the way, baby.
Update: Total price of the Hall would jump to $195m. This is a bait-and-switch of huge proportions. City staff actually had the cojones to say they’ve “always” known the cost of the exhibits would be more than originally budgeted. Bullcrap.
