[Admittedly, the title can be reused ad infinitum]

Anyone wondering whether our Congressmen were among the 354 who received campaign donations from Fannie Mae’s and Freddie Mac’s PACs or employees?

Well, yes.

According to OpenSecrets.com, between 1989 and 2008, both our senators and eight of our current thirteen representatives received donations from the mortgage companies’ PACs or employees:

Brad Miller (D) – $18,000
Mel Watt (D) – $17,250
Richard Burr (R) – $14,250
Patrick McHenry (R) – $12,500
David Price (D) – $4550
Sue Myrick (R) – $3200
Walter Jones (R) – $2750
G.K. Butterfield (D) – $2000
Robin Hayes (R) – $1000
Elizabeth Dole (R) – $1000

Of course, the bipartisan total, $76,500, is nowhere close to the $126,349 received by Barack Obama (D-IL) in his three years in the Senate. He was second only to Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT), who received $165,400.
