When the U.S. House failed in a vote to censure California Rep. Pete Stark for his outrageous comments on the floor the other day, five of North Carolina’s seven Democrats voted for Stark (David Price, Brad Miller, Mike McIntyre, Mel Watt and Bob Etheridge). Heath Shuler was the only Democrat to join five Republicans (Howard Coble, Virginia Foxx, Sue Myrick, Walter Jones and Robin Hayes) in condemning Stark’s comments. Democrat G.K. Butterfield and Republican Patrick McHenry did not vote.
In case you missed it, here’s a video of Stark making his comments:
By the way, Stark, after refusing to apologize for saying President Bush enjoyed sending kids over to Iraq to get their heads blown off, decided to change his tune. After the above-mentioned resolution failed, he apologized to his colleagues in the House, the President and “the troops.”
