Classic. What is NC DOT’s solution for thieves who repeatedly steal copper and darken Charlotte area interstates? To quit fixing streetlights.

WBTV reports that the state is giving up on several stretches, including I-77 near the LaSalle Street and Brookshire Freeway exits. On others DOT will claim that it does not have enough money to do the work.

Can we sue these jokers? They are refusing to keep up basic safety elements of federal highways. Or I suppose CMPD could try to police lights — guard the damn things — more pro-actively. But quitting is not an option.
