The Rhino’s John Hammer says the hiring of Mike Speedling as new assistant city manager of public safety is a “masterstroke” by City Manager Rashad Young and “starts the process of solving a host of problems that were on Young’s plate.”

There’s certainly no questioning Speedling’s resume, but I’m still concerned his mission will be compromised in the bureaucratic maze that is municipal government.

Update: A commenter over at Guarino’s says if Speedling’s “not there as a hatchet man it is a waste of money.” I don’t know what “Noah” knows and doesn’t know, but I’ll start believing hatchet jobs within city government when I see them.
