One item on last night’s City Council agenda that got overlooked was a resolution granting the city permission to apply for a federal grant to help pay for new Greensboro Transit Authority Facility at a cost of $20 million.

Along with the federal money, the city’s share should come in at $2 million. If I heard him right, Mayor Keith Holliday pointed out that the $2 million more than likely won’t have to come “out of pocket” when the city sells the land on which the exisiting facility sits.

I guess can understand the need for a new facility after seeing the photographs of city buses double- and triple-parked on the lot. But $20 million? And people scratch their heads wondering why we have transportation infrastructure issues in this country.
