This nightmare has been bubbling for a couple weeks now, surprised it took the Uptown paper of record so long to jump on the propaganda wagon. The goal is nothing less than to stampede the public in swallowing huge property tax-raising bonds by dangling shiny new facilities mixed with a good dose of fear — act NOW! before land disappears FOREVER!.
It is totally irresponsible. Wants morphed into needs. Parks Director Jim Garges is shameless. “Our job is to lay out the road map,” Garges told his co-conspirator. “It’s up to the citizens and up to the officials to decide how to fund something like that.”
