Tonight, the Buncombe County Commissioners denied a request to place a mobile home on a secluded lot on rural terrain up near Weaverville. The planning board had voted against the request. It was argued the next denser zoning would allow uses like cell towers and mobile home parks. Family members argued that parents wanted to provide a place for their daughter and her husband, and the economy was so bad, it was impossible to afford rent at a nice place or a security deposit.

Bill Stanley made a motion to grant the requested zoning relief, but his motion died for lack of a second.
