Scrolling through our local paper of record this morning, I couldn’t help but notice this interesting trifecta:

…Editor John Robinson for Matt Brown’s amphitheater at the Greensboro Coliseum:

Doubts about the amphitheater at the Coliseum? Take a look at what Raleigh seems to know.

…. Editorial page editor Allen Johnson for the downtown luxury hotel:

Yes. The investors are taking a minimal risk — but so are the taxpayers.

And the investors are playing by the rules of the game as they are set.

I’m willing to roll the dice on this project.

Downtown stands to gain more if it succeeds than downtown stands to lose if the hotel doesn’t work out.

The sky won’t fall if it fails.

And it’d be nice to see some new construction downtown other than the jail.

…Metro columnist Jeri Rowe on the downtown greenway (in the e-edition):

We don’t have mountains. We don’t have a river. But we’ll have a “river of green,” ringing our center city, the only one of its kind in North Carolina.

And if we’re lucky, our Borderlands will be a border no more.

Rowe also reports Deep Roots Market is till looking at the former North State Chevrolet site. Last I heard, they couldn’t make federal stimulus bonds work, but then again it didn’t look like the hotel would make them work, either.
