Just flat out lies. Here we go:

Hate being stuck in traffic? Think what it would be like with several thousand more cars on the road.

If the transit tax is repealed:

– Transit riders will have to find other transportation

– More care will be stuck in front of you

– Air quality will continue to worsen

– Property tax will likely be raised

Vote AGAINST more traffic. Vote AGAINST more pollution. Vote AGAINST repeal for the transit tax.

They are workin’ my last good nerve.

How do you get to a point where you have such contempt for your fellow citizens? Mere greed and avarice can’t explain it.

Such license can only spring from a deeply held belief in one’s own superiority — of belief, intention, and vision. That word from the Observer story today. Vision.

The transit tax vote is viewed as a referendum on the Uptown crowd’s vision for Charlotte. Given that and so framed, losing is not an option, and all methods to securing victory become permissible.

Our vision must win, our self-appointed visionaries say. Thus fact and fiction melt and merge. We are beyond lies now.

As Nietzsche observed, “The visionary denies the truth to himself, the liar only to others.”

Update: Another lie. Mailer to the University City area claiming “Your train is coming.” Don’t know that. Won’t know until the Federal Transit Administration approves funding for the $750 million project. If that ever happens.

But now we know why CATS has not been pressing the FTA for answer on that — campaign claims had to come first.
