Students at an Asheville elementary school took an oath of silence to raise awareness about child abuse. It’s part of the O Ambassador (UN) program. I appreciate that the children care, but I have always been troubled by an absence of cause-and-effect in awareness exercises. Kids refrain from speaking or wear hats in order to raise money for an organization that what, raises funds and awareness for more of the same? I don’t get it.
As an aside, I’m wondering if all these O’s I’m seeing these days have something to do with Ayn Rand’s Zeroes.
