In 1992, when I was still considered myself a liberal, I took my kids to NCCU so they could see Bill Clinton at a campaign appearance. It was an outdoor event and was free and open to the public. All three of my kids eventually shook hands with the man and I’ve had to live that down for nearly 20 years.
My, how things have changed. Barack Obama is coming to NCCU tonight and you have to pay $25 to meet the man ($10 if you can prove you’re a student). However, my kids, all good conservatives, have no plans to be there.
UPDATE: My guess is Durham Mayor Bill Bell gets in for free tonight. I just heard on the radio that he has endorsed Obama for president.
