The object of hatred (and thus support for Big Brother) in 1984 was the fictitious Goldstein. In the battle over forcing Americans into the clutches of the political monstrosity Pelosi, Baucus, and the rest of the authoritarians in DC envision, the health insurance industry is being invested with Goldstein-like evil characteristics.
