Obamacare “will work and people will like it and wonder why it took so long to put something as sensible as the Affordable Care Act into place.” — The News & Observer yesterday

Forbes today:

This week the reality of the ObamaCare roll-out appeared in a set of news stories that serve as an ironic juxtaposition. Over 500,000 individuals have seen their insurance policies cancelled in just 3 states.  In all 50 states, only 476,000 applications have been “filed” in an exchange.

Forbes helpfully notes that it “doesn’t even include recent reports in North Carolina of Blue Cross planning to cancel a sizable portion of their plans, or carriers doing the same in Illinois or Nebraska.”

Their link goes to an October 6 Charlotte Observer article that opens,

Across North Carolina, thousands of people have been shocked in recent weeks to find out their health insurance plans will be canceled at the end of the year – and premiums for comparable coverage could increase sharply.

“Obamacare is here. There’s nothing to fear and plenty to cheer.” — The News & Observer, September 29

There’s a reason why Forbes used the phrase “the reality of the Obamacare roll-out,” as opposed to the  rainbow-flying unicorns of the plan’s working and popularity and sensibility.
