But if you’re at UNC-CH, and you want to talk about race relations, please be careful. After all, you don’t want to make the mistake of Martha Lamb, the former UNC-CH professor of social work who endeavored to show how far race relations had improved in her discipline by sharing with her class some of the stuff her teachers would say ? and got fired for it because her graduate students weren’t able, apparently, to grasp that she was comparing the overt hostility in the discipline then to its widespread acceptance of people now.
