The media is still harping on graduation rates, rather than digging into the problem itself.

We now have reliable graduation rates (thanks to No Child Left Behind), and those rates are widely reported by state education agencies, the Department of Education, and many education periodicals/websites. It’s time to move on.

Of course, talking about the problem means coming to the conclusion that our public schools, despite handsome funding, are in the pits. Too many people do not have the courage to “tell it like it is.”
