If you long for the economic conditions the prevailed under Jimmy Carter, these people have the right stuff. They want more socialism and less trade.
Especially revealing — John Edwards’ statement that he’d like to make sure that no “scab” crosses a picket line. Presumably that means he wants to make it illegal for a firm to hire any new workers during a strike. What an authoritarian! He’s against free trade in goods internationally, but also against free trade in labor domestically if union bosses have decreed that no one may work at a particular firm.
