Former N.C. House Speaker Jim Black returned to Charlotte this week after spending the past few years behind bars in a federal prison. Meck Deck blogger Jeff Taylor discussed Black’s return with WCCB Television (FoxCharlotte). Carolina Journal Managing Editor Rick Henderson discussed Black in a pair of appearances on WPTF Radio, including Bill LuMaye‘s afternoon talk show. Henderson also discussed both Black and former Sen. John Edwards during his latest appearance on Curtis Media Group’s “People and Politics” program. CJ Executive Editor Don Carrington discussed the latest developments in the investigation of Gov. Beverly Perdue’s campaign flights during an appearance on the WTIB Radio morning show. Lockwood Phillips of WTKF’s “Viewpoints Radio” queried Carrington on the same topic later in the week. John Locke Foundation Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar Roy Cordato discussed environmental and energy issues, the future of the Bush tax cuts, and health care reform during his latest appearance this week with Chad Adams on WLTT Radio. Joseph Coletti, Director of Health and Fiscal Policy Studies, analyzed targeted tax incentives with Lockwood Phillips on WTKF. Phillips called on Lindalyn Kakadelis of the N.C. Education Alliance to discuss the use of state lottery funds to supplant North Carolina’s general education expenses. Kakadelis also focused on the potential impact of the state’s budget hole on education. Mitch Kokai, Director of Communications, responded to Perdue’s promise of a major state government reorganization for a story on WTVD. Kokai also discussed Perdue and UNC facility needs during his latest appearance with Curtis Wright on the WAAV/WFNC Radio morning show. Becki Gray, Vice President for Outreach, tackled the upcoming elections and Carolina Journal‘s coverage of state government corruption cases during an appearance with Carl Lamm on WTSB Radio. Coletti and Gray traveled to Asheville and Charlotte this week for the first meetings in the latest Carolina Freedom Club tour. While in Asheville, they chatted with Matt Mittan on WWNC Radio. Gray, Executive Vice President Kory Swanson, and N.C. History Project Director Troy Kickler head to Edenton this evening for a presentation about the Locke Foundation’s work. Gray and Swanson will then speak to an Edenton Tea Party group Saturday.
