The Orange County School District is headed in the right direction with their recent approval of nine new career and technical education courses.
Of course, leave it a member of the Orange County school board to pooh-pooh the courses because they are not high tech enough.
Board member Anne Medenblik said she was troubled by the lack of technology courses ? such as computer programming ? among those the committee approved. More than 100 students at Orange High School, she said, haven?t passed their computer proficiency test.
?Technology is where it?s at,? Medenblik said.
As I discuss here, high tech fields like computer programming are not necessarily “where it’s at” in North Carolina.
