Despite the overwhelming defeat of a land transfer tax in 16 counties this week, Orange County, dominated by Chapel Hill politicians and residents with an unquenchable thirst for government-provided programs and regulations, is one place where any additional tax on home sales or general purchases has a great chance of passing. In fact, Orange County commissioners have already put out the official call for up to 20 volunteers to help with the public relations campaign for next May’s tax referendum.
