In another reversal of a trial court decision, a unanimous three-judge panel of the N.C. Court of Appeals is allowing a woman to move forward with a wrongful death lawsuit against Jonesville and two of its police officers. Plaintiff Vernetta Cockerham-Ellerbee claims the officers bear some legal responsibility for her estranged husband’s murder of her daughter. 

A unanimous panel will also allow plaintiffs to continue to seek class action status for a suit against payday lenders.
