Thought I’d share some snippets of conversation I overheard at the DNC this week:

“Do you know the difference between the ‘honored guest’ and ‘special guest’ badge?”
– One teenage FleetCenter staffer to another. It reminded me of the scene in “Fear of a Black Hat” when the band is listed on the marquee as “Special Guest.” “Who’s ‘also Special Guest?” If you’ve seen the film, you’re chuckling right now.

“F*&^ing Secret Service down there!”
– A delegate.

“Willie Nelson and his friends can go upstairs. How is that fair?”
– A delegate to his friend after the Fire Marshall locked down all the floors, preventing anyone from moving from one to another. Anyone except Willie Nelson.

“He may win. I didn’t think that until about 10 seconds ago. I thought there was no love for him here.”
– One reporter to another as John Kerry’s speech was about to end.

“Let’s just circle the concourse getting all the free stuff!”
– A teenage delegate to his friend.
