ppYasman floats the notion that the Panthers want to extend Jordan Gross and Julius Peppers next. Pep — absolutely. Back up the Brinks truck. The guy should finish his career as a Panther — a straight Carolina man going back to the days as a high school running back at Southern Nash who rushed for 3,500 yards and 46 touchdowns.

Pep stays healthy the next few years — Hall of Fame. Yellow jacket. Canton. No doubt.

Mr. Gross? He’s a starting tackle in this league. Seems good at all aspects of the game, great at none. Good community guy, good teammate from all we know. I would be much inclined to look after Jordan if we see something this year to merit it.

This will be another OC with a new scheme (zone blocking) and if Gross does not stand out with this regime you have to wonder if he is that good. To wit, I want to see some 3rd and 2s where we run over his hole and get 4 yards. Where he becomes money, the whole stadium knows where the ball is going and Jordan flat pancakes his man.

Now that’s a priority player.
