Phyllis Schlafly says that parental rights need to be restored in public schools. I agree. But she has way too much faith in the ability of Congress to pass legislation to do so. The belief that Congress will answer parents’ “plea for help” is misguided.

She is correct to say that, “Because Congress is doling out hundreds of millions of dollars a year to public schools, it’s perfectly proper to attach strings to the receipt of taxpayer money.” Perhaps Congress has no business doling out hundreds of millions of dollars a year to public schools. Then, we would not have to worry about the strings attached to the money.
