George Lucas wasn’t such a dope.

Legendary “Star Wars” film creator George Lucas told a packed house the United States is a provincial country with a culture that has invaded the world via Hollywood. …

People see shows such as “Dallas,” about a wealthy Texas oil family, and decide they want the grand lifestyles portrayed, according to Lucas.

“They say that is what I want to be,” Lucas said. “That destabilizes a lot of the world.”

Da da da, tovarishch, ze pipple must feel zemself stable vit ze tyranny! What an addlepated complaint! Look, if “Dallas” actually made the oppressed peoples of the world strive for American freedoms thinking (rightly) it would lead to opportunities that could eventually lead to ten-gallon American opulence ? well, then I could finally count one (1) thing I’d like about that show.

Lucas’ comment is ripe for comedy. Me, I’d like to study how, say, “The Dukes of Hazzard” destabilized the Soviet Union. About that time, the ol’ Samizdat Boys found themselves in a heap o’ trouble. Think they’ll be able to git outta this mess?

Still, I have to think that J.R. Ewing doesn’t have anything on ol’ Robin Leach and his “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” I merely hope it’s not too late for Lucas and Hollywood to fix things! I’m eagerly awaiting his new show that’s gonna stabilize the world. I just don’t know if it will be the soap opera “Dharfour” or “Lifestyles of the Squalid and Oppressed.”
