I was only halfway through my first cup of coffee while reading today’s N&R editorial page, so I thought I was dreaming when I read this headline above Cal Thomas’ column:

Obamas show support for school choice

What’s this, I thought to myself. Has the Messiah won over the Moral Voice of Journalism? Of course not:

…the Obamas have the ability to make a choice for their children, a choice the president-elect would deny to every other American who cannot afford to pay private school tuition. This is not the vaunted fairness for which Obama campaigned. This is not spreading the educational and intellectual wealth around.

Someone more cynical might suggest the headline was intentionally misleading. But I’ve been reading the N&R for a long time and I know better.
