According to polling data released by JLF this week, more than 60 percent of Wake County voters would reject a school bond referendum that triggers a tax increase.  Also of note from the poll, more than 70 percent of those voters, including most parents with children, would support mandatory year-round school calendars if they saved money on school construction.  The press release landed a story on News14, ABC11, the News&Observer, and the Asheville Citizen-Times. This information, accompanied by national comparison statistics on Wake County’s tax burden and school construction costs provided by Joe Coletti and Terry Stoops, landed in the laps of the Blue Ribbon Tax Reform Commission for Wake County.  Recently, Wake County school board members cited JLF polling data in the N&O as a reason for keeping the bond request below a billion dollars.
