Essential Standard: Analyze strategies that support health promoting behaviors and reduce the risk of chronic and infectious disease.

Assessment Prototype: Evaluate FDA approved methods of reducing the risk of sexually transmitted infections and diseases.

The “assessment prototype” sounds official, but it is just another way of introducing the subject of prophylactics into the curriculum.

I have to hand it to the NC Department of Public Instruction; “FDA approved methods of reducing the risk of sexually transmitted infections and diseases” is quite the euphemism.
