Marches in Asheville are a dime-a-dozen anymore. They tend to be based on themes opposing existing law and social fabric. Sunday, the cause was the recent arrest of twelve undocumented workers in a raid of Shogun, home of the yummy, yummy spinach and cheese dish.

The reasons behind the latest protest have all been expressed in multiple platforms repeatedly already. Immigration law tends to welcome wealthy drug kingpins over the working poor fleeing oppression (a.k.a. huddled masses yearning to be free). Federal agents are not divulging the motivation behind the raid, and protesters would love to make that an issue so the feds can’t work up their case. Of course, it wouldn’t be necessary for federal agents to jump through so many PC, offense-avoiding hoops had it not been for previous anti-law-and-order protesters.
