Check out this video of young Russians driving too fast in the streets of Moscow. What’s amazing about this video is the affluence one sees in the background: Expensive cars, expensive clothes, trendy shops, tasteful advertising, good roads.

This is a far cry from even 1996, the last time I was in Moscow. There may be some unpleasant aspects of Russian capitalism right now, but, on balance, this beats the enforced misery of the old regime.

* Ulitsa means street in Russian.
