A story that will have to be closely followed over the coming months will be the possibility that Randolph County will reopen its landfill and accept Greensboro’s garbage, thus providing the “regional solution” council member Robbie Perkins “preaches every chance he gets.”

John Hammer analyzes why this would be a good solution on many levels, including creating competition with Republic Waste Services, which currently hauls Greensboro’s garbage to Montgomery County. But Hammer concludes “reopening the White Street Landfill remains the most sensible solution.”
