It reminded me of a friend who bought a pig to raise for the table. His children, unfortunately fans of Charlotte’s Web, named the tragic creature “Wilbur”. When the inevitable discussion came up, their father, a very sweet-natured and soft-spoken man, explained the concept of man’s dominion over Creation, the Biblical permission to eat meat rather than vegetables only, and this beautiful summary:
God made animals delicious.
