Jon, it does my heart good to hear Mike speak so highly of the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero series, because I introduced1 him to that series at last year’s Pope Center conference. I gave him a Double Ligero No. 700, a 6.5-inch, 60-ring (yes) behemoth ? a very rich, spicy smoke that really packs a wallop ? with my highest recommendations. It’s funny that you mention Rush, Jon, because I have heard him speak very enthusiastically about Double Ligeros.

At the conference I also gave Mike another of my favorites ? a selection (can’t remember which one) from Arturo Fuente’s wonderful Hemingway series. The Hemingway Short Story is still my favorite cigar ? a 30-minute encounter with perfection; rich, subtle with a hint of spice and coffee, thoroughly enjoyable. I also keep a few Fuente Fuente Opus X cigars on hand for special occasions. I tend to favor sticks from the Dominican Republic, although our own Guillermo Pe?a has made a strong case in favor of Honduran smokes.

Note

1. Adams reciprocated by introducing me to Rocky Patel‘s deservedly well-regarded sticks. Thanks again, Mike!
