If we distinguish between conservative and libertarian I think we end up including a lot more music–one that was quite big among early 70s libertarians was The Who “We Won’t Get Fooled Again.” When we went from Bill Clinton to George Bush my first thought was “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”

My next statement will get me introuble with my conservative friends, but I would include most of the anti-war songs of the 60s. Actually, I’m partial to “I-feel-like-I’m-fixin-to-die Rag” by Country Joe and the Fish (yeah that’s right, of Woodstock fame). Songs like this helped to rally protests against and to bring down the most egregious rights violation of the last century–the military draft.
