Joe, the reform that’s most needed in healthcare is to create a 1-to-1 relationship between consumption of services and payment for services. We’ve created a system that hides true costs and encourages ignorance among the buying public. Combine this fact with the pervasive entitlement mentality that now afflicts many Americans, and we have a whopper of a problem. Last time I visited a doctor, I asked for the cost of the service I was receiving before I paid my co-pay. The receptionist looked at me like I was from another planet and responded: “I don’t know how to find that out. Besides, your co-pay is $15, so what do you care?”
