Hammer and Sickle Superman reminds me of one of Saturday Night Live’s classic skit series from the 1970s called “What If….” The skit would suggest what might happen if certain historical or fictional stories had slight twists (What if…Eleanor Roosevelt could fly? What if…Spartacus had a Piper Cub?)
One skit suggested what might happen if…Superman was a Nazi. Dan Ackroyd played Superman (Uberman/Kaus Kent), Laraine Newman was Lois Lane, and yes, Al Franken played Jimmy Olsen (Jimmy Olstein). I don’t remember all the details, but the vivid punchline at the end of the skit had Uberman using his x-ray vision to out Jimmy as a Jew.
