So Jackson marks the beginning of American history as 1776. I suppose pre-Columbian cultures, Columbus, DeSoto, the Lost Colony, Jamestown, Plymouth, the Massachusetts Bay Colony, the Lords Proprietors, the French and Indian War, and most of Benjamin Franklin’s life will have to be moved to “World History” class.
As for Jackson ignoring a much older caution he should already know: Talk about audacity.
