Following up on Roy?s note about the flight of sober scientists from politicized global-warming panels, I just ran across a sucinct paragraph by the Hudson Institute?s Dennis Avery that should, in an ideal world, show up in virtually every popular-press treatment of the subject:

The Earth’s temperatures have increased since 1850 ? the end of the widely noted Little Ice Age ? by about 0.8 degrees Celsius. However, 0.6 degrees C of the warming occurred before 1940, and thus before much human-emitted CO2. After 1940, the Earth?s temperature declined moderately until the late 1970s, despite significant increases in human CO2 emissions and in defiance of the greenhouse theory. . .

It requires a desperate lunge off of Occam?s Razor to draw anything but a skeptic?s conclusion from all this.
