Roy, I can’t say that taxation per se is a violation of individual rights. That the government may call for some percentage of my wealth for the maintenance of its legitimate functions is pretty well laid out in the theology I live by.
But that’s not to say that everything government does for, to, and in spite of us is legitimate. No, not by a long shot.
I’m just happy if we make progress toward an ideally low rate;I don’t expect a sudden awakening and reformation in the halls of any legislature, local, federal, or otherwise … though it’s always useful to raise the question.
And speaking of local government, the most crucial is the family, and it’s time for Valentine’s Day, friends.
