John and Kent, your comments have me thinking about where feminists fit into the voting equation for the Dems. Sad to say, but my experience is that too many liberal women will vote for the candidate who simply promises to pass out the most freebies — subsidized child care, health care, preferential treatment for moms in the workplace, etc. So on the one hand, feminists will profess to be tough, independent, and making it on their own in a society they believe is oppressive to women, but in reality, their calls for equal treatment go out the window when equality brings with it a heavy burden or responsibility. So, based on this race for preferential treatment, I’d say liberal women will choose Dean or Gephardt.
