Maybe it’s because I’m young and don’t have any kids yet, but I have to disagree about all the harmful effects of “eclectic” music on children. My clearest memories of childhood music are of the soundtrack to Good Morning Vietnam and the Oakridge Boys. I don’t think I heard any classical music until the rerelease of Disney’s Fantasia.

I don’t think I was harmed in any way by this unusual mix of music. On the contrary, I think being exposed to all types of music at a very early age increased my willingness to learn about music and my knowledge of it.

As an addendum, I’d like to say that I love the Barenaked Ladies.
