…and expensive. North Carolina automatically grants a 12 percent pay boost to teachers who manage to get this certification. In addition, the state picks up the expense for taking the certification program ($2300 last time I looked) for as many teachers as want to go for it. They also get several days off to prepare their “portfolios.”
The whole thing is the sort of nonsense that could only thrive with government support.
