So I was away from the blog yesterday and now I realize I’ve missed out on a monumentally important announcement: John Hood wants to get interested in baseball! But gang, from the blogs so far, I’d say way too many of you are taking a much-too-cerebral approach to the game. For me, my love of baseball is based in the wonderful feelings I had as a little girl parked in front of the TV with my dad, enjoying the Saturday Game of the Week, called by Curt Gowdy and Tony Kubek. I still remember how special it was to hold my dad’s huge hand and cheer on the Big Red Machine as they clobbered the competition. And now, baseball is about those very same feelings that still well up inside when this very grown-up girl calls home to 81-year-old dad, just so we can share the thrill of a play at the plate or an awesome strike-out. That’s what baseball is all about.
