Michael,
I certainly agree that colleges were better off when
government paid less attention to them. Right now, the opposite
is true. Accountability is the buzzword for more government
control of higher education.
However, in the quote cited, I don’t
understand how dumb courses in the classroom has anything to do with
governmental involvement and increased spending on higher education.
