The anti-Wal Mart jihad (can I say that here?) is largely coordinated by Big Labor, especially the United Food and Commercial Workers. Since organized labor has had no success in unionizing Wal-Mart stores (they’ve tried, but employees have said no in elections) and Wal-Mart lures customers away from stores that are unionized with low prices (leftists insist that gas should be cheaper, but celery and Cheerios should be kept artifically expensive), the union bigwigs are eager to recruit allies who will help them use the coercive power of government to prevent peaceful competition.

I often think that the crucial dividing line between people politically is whether they are willing to turn to governmental power to achieve their objectives by force, or if they will just accept that in a free society, you can’t always get what you want and that you should refrain from attempting to coerce others. To put it simply, are you a “Live and Let Live” person, or not? The anti-Wal mart crowd consists of non-Live and Let Live people.
