Now we learn via the N&R that allegations of high school recruiting are hard to prove.

Not that Guilford County Schools was ever looking that hard, according to former athletics director Herb Goins:

Goins, the school system’s athletics director for 12 years before retiring last fall, said he did his best to look into the two or three recruiting complaints he received each year.

“But that job is not set up to be an investigative one,” he said. “When you finish with everything else, you try to devote as much time as possible to someone’s complaint. That’s not always possible. And when you get down to it, it’s almost always, always going to be one person’s word against another. So then what do you do?”

Also note who was making allegations that went were never proven: None other than Northern Guilford basketball coach Stan Kowalewski, who filed a complaint against Dudley basketball coach David Price, accusing Price of attempting to recruit —- guess who —Northern star Jacob Lawson.

So with two forced resignations plus the firing of Jacob’s dad Louis Lawson, Mo Green and his investigators must have some pretty concrete evidence that Northern was recruiting. Hopefully we’ll get to see that evidence in the not-too-distant future.
